    Batman: War on Crime is a treasury giant prestige format graphic novel published by DC Comics in November 1999. The work is the second in a series of collaborations between artist Alex Ross and writer Paul Dini, following Superman: Peace on Earth. The comic received both a Harvey and Eisner Award, two of the comics industry's highest honors.
    Each of these has the superhero run up against a real world problem, and in Batman’s case it’s the connection between poverty and crime. Businesses have moved away from the Bayside area of Gotham, causing unemployment and squashing hope, and Dini emphasises the connection between that and increasing crime as desperate people commit desperate acts.
